The solar eclipse of August 12, 2026 was a total solar eclipse, with the path of totality crossing Greenland, Iceland, and northern Spain. From France, only a partial phase was visible, very late in the day and low over the western horizon: from Ain, about 93% of the Sun’s diameter was covered by the Moon at maximum, around 8:20 pm local time.

This video is a timelapse shot with the Seestar S30 Pro fitted with its dedicated solar filter, capturing a frame every 5 seconds. Since the Sun stayed very low on the horizon throughout the event, even small movements around the mount were enough to introduce slight vibrations between frames. The images were therefore stabilized afterwards with a custom Python (OpenCV) script that realigns each frame against the previous one to remove these micro-shakes before assembling the final timelapse.
