The Pelican Nebula (IC 5070) owes its name to the shape of its gas and dust clouds, which resembles the silhouette of the bird. It is part of the same vast molecular complex as the North America Nebula (NGC 7000), the two being separated by a band of dark dust that absorbs light.
This star-forming region is ionized by the ultraviolet radiation of young, hot stars nearby, giving it its characteristic red hue in Hα.
First attempt at this object with the Seestar S30 Pro mounted in equatorial mode on an EQ3, stacking and processing done in Siril.
New shot with the Seestar S50 Pro mounted in equatorial mode on a ZWO TH10 mount (set up on the S50’s tripod), 300 exposures of 30 s stacked and processed in Siril.
